I’d often fancied one of the famous brand action cameras, but have never been able to afford it, so I thought I’d give the Topop Action Camera a go. The blurb on Amazon said it came with a variety of accessories, so I was really surprised how small the box was. Taking the camera out of the casing it was tiny, about 2” x 1.5”; it’s amazing what you can do with technology these days.

The camera itself is a good solid camera and seems extremely well built. On the front there’s the power/mode button, the rear houses the colour screen, on the top is the shutter/select button, on the right hand side is the zoom/up& down button and on the other side are the micro sd slot, charging & transfer slots. The clear waterproof case has silver buttons corresponding with the camera buttons. I wasn’t expecting any of the options I found in the settings. There’s anti shake, choice of ISO, choice of sharpness, AWB option, choice of video & photo quality, self-timer, motion detection. I was really impressed, especially at the price of the camera! The camera automatically turns on in video mode; 1st press of power button changes it to camera, 2nd is photo/video review and 3rd is setting mode.

The camera has a wide angle lens and the zoom works well, albeit more of a sudden zoom than a gradual one. I was very eager to try the camera and was pleased to see it arrived partly charged, so I naughtily used it straight out the box. I had a play with it in the garden with the video and camera mode, the shutter was pretty quick and the buttons were very responsive. Don’t be disheartened if your photos look bluey and washed out in the camera screen, once they are uploaded the colours are actually vivid and true.

The camera came with very clear instructions, although the camera’s very intuitive, together with a lens cloth and an assortment of various brackets and things to attach the camera to helmets, bikes etc; but any generic accessories made for the GoPro cameras will also fit this camera. These little action cameras aren’t just good for action & sports; with a head or chest strap it enables you to film hands-free while you playing with your children or pets or a variety of things that you can’t normally do when trying to hold a camera; or you can even use it as a dash cam.

My opinion expressed is a direct reflection of my personal experience with the Topop Action Camera and it’s brilliant! It’s tiny, well made, robust, very versatile and most importantly it takes great quality video and photographs. I can honestly very highly recommend it for both its quality and value for money
