AUKEY Dashcam Full HD, 170° Wide Angle Lens, Night Vision & 2" screen
I’ve always fancied a dash cam, but have always thought that they’d either be really expensive or ones I could afford would be poor quality. I’m very pleased to say that this dash cam has proved me wrong on both accounts; not only is it an affordable price, but the quality is exceptionally good too.
The camera just requires a class10 micro SD card to work, which isn’t included, but I got one from Amazon for less than £5. Everything else you need comes with the dash cam; you get a suction based holder to put on the window, in addition to an 3M pads so you can permanently stick it somewhere, a 3 meter long USB cable so it’s long enough for you to hide and 3 cable clips to attach it, as well as a double USB lighter adapter, meaning not only can you plug the dashcam in, you also have an empty socket to charge up something else at the same time.
The dashcam is really so simple to use; once it is turned on and plugged into the USB adapter, it automatically comes on and starts recording, it will continue recording until it’s either manually turned off or unplugged. It uses a Sony Exmor Sensor which gives an extended wide angle lens of 170, meaning it’ll also cover the parked cars and pavements as well, instead of just the immediate road in front of you. Which is handy as any incidents with parked cars or pedestrians stepping off the pavements would also be captured in full 1080P HD. I’ve recorded some sample footage which can be seen on Youtube in the link below, one was taken late afternoon just before dusk and the other one was taken at night; as you can see the clarity and quality is brilliant on both clips.
Not only is the quality of the film excellent, the build quality and features are excellent too. The camera automatically records on a loop, recording 3, 5 or 10 minute clips and then goes over previously recorded footage if the memory card is full; but there’s an emergency button on the front and if you press it, it’ll automatically saved the footage immediately prior to the button being pressed. If you don’t want the camera on continuous recording mode, the G-sensor will automatically react to any sudden breaking, swerves or impact and start recording or you can use the camera on time lapse mode. This dashcam is great, I’d happily recommend it and of course it comes with Aukey’s 24 month warranty.
